Frequently Asked Questions-

MECHANICAL REPAIR SERVICE CONTRACT

1. Q: My vehicle is covered by the Manufacturer's Limited Warranty, why should I purchase a Hendrick Autoguard Mechanical Repair Service Contract?

A: The Manufacturer's Limited Warranty is generally for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Most customers drive their vehicles more than 36,000 miles in 36 months.

Consider purchasing Hendrick Autoguard Mechanical Repair Service Contract for your vehicle if you drive more than 1,000 miles monthly and plan to lease or finance your vehicle for more than 36 months, or if you want to decrease your financial exposure to repair costs.

2. Q: I purchased a Mechanical Repair Service Contract on my current vehicle and never used it. Why do I want to purchase another Mechanical Repair Service Contract?

A: Outstanding - your current vehicle is performing as expected. You have not been inconvenienced or responsible for expensive repairs. Mechanical Repair Service Contracts are similar to auto insurance, you certainly hope you will not have to use it, but you do not want the risk or uncertainty of paying for a major repair. By purchasing a Hendrick Autoguard Mechanical Repair Service Contract, you transfer the uncertainty and financial risk of expensive, covered repairs to Hendrick Autoguard, Inc.

A: Most vehicles are eligible for a Hendrick Autoguard Mechanical Repair Service Contract. Visit your local Hendrick Automotive Group dealer to inquire about eligibility.

A: Hendrick Autoguard Mechanical Repair Service Contacts are offered with a wide variety of time and mileage terms, up to 10 years and 120,000 miles.

On New and Used vehicles, Mechanical Repair Service Contract coverage begins on the date and at the mileage when you purchase the contract.

On Manufacturer Certified Vehicles, Mechanical Repair Service Contract coverage begins on the Manufacturer’s In-Service Date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner) and at zero miles.

On Hendrick Certified Vehicles, Mechanical Repair Service Contract coverage begins on January 1 of the vehicles’ Model Year and at zero miles.

5. Q: How much does a Hendrick Autoguard Mechanical Repair Service Contract cost?

GUARANTEED ASSET PROTECTION

1. Q: What is Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) and why do I need it?

A: Hendrick Autoguard GAP provides security and peace of mind. GAP waives the difference between what you owe on your vehicle and what your insurance company will pay in the event your vehicle is declared a total loss.

2. Q: What benefits do I receive with GAP?

A: In the unfortunate event your vehicle is declared a total loss due to an unrecoverable theft or accidental damage, your auto insurance company will typically pay the current market value of your vehicle less your deductible. But what if your loan or lease balance is higher than the market value of your vehicle, you would be responsible for paying off the difference, including your deductible. This can be expensive. The reason for the potential difference is that normally the loan/lease balance decreases at a predictable amount as monthly payments are made. However, the market value of your vehicle is influenced by several variable factors (e.g. supply, demand, and mileage). This means that market value often may be lower than your outstanding balance – particularly early in your contract when you have the most to lose. GAP can help waive the difference. Please note any late fees or additional interest charges due to late fees will not be included in the payoff calculation.

3. Q: Isn’t the amount I receive from my insurance company enough to pay-off my loan or lease balance if my vehicle is declared a total loss?

A: The example below will illustrate:

Market Value of Vehicle $13,000
Less Your Insurance Deductible - $1,000
Proceeds from Insurance Company $12,000
Amount You Owe on Loan or Lease $18,500
Proceeds from Insurance Company - $12,000
The difference ($6,500)

In this example, the answer is NO! The difference illustrates what you would still owe your lender without GAP.

4. Q: When can I purchase Hendrick Autoguard GAP?

A: GAP is an optional form of protection available only at the time you sign your Retail Finance or Lease Contract with the selling Hendrick Automotive Group dealership. If you would like to know more about GAP, ask to see the GAP addendum.

5. Q: How do I cancel my GAP addendum?

A: In the event you wish to cancel your contract, please contact the finance department at your selling Hendrick Automotive Group dealership, they will assist you in this process. In the event you cannot reach the selling dealership, send a letter with a copy of your contract and an odometer reading statement to the selling Hendrick Automotive Group dealership requesting cancellation. If your loan was paid off you will receive the check, if not it will go to your lienholder. In the event of a covered total loss, the GAP charge will be considered fully earned and no refund will be available.

6. Q: If I sell my vehicle, can I transfer my GAP coverage?

A: Hendrick Autoguard GAP is purchased in the original retail installment sales contract and is not transferable.

7. Q: What should I do if my vehicle is declared a total loss?

A: Please contact your selling dealership.
